The original house sits alongside many listed Edwardian properties set in an important conservation area in an enclave of Hampstead in London. It is always difficult to extend a building which is more than one hundred years old in a manner which is both sensitive to the original form and at the same time, suitable to modern tastes and living styles. The approach in this instance was to go for a complete contrast with a two-storey, air-conditioned, glass conservatory which is predominantly constructed using glass beams, columns and partly, the floors. The design has not yet been tested with the local planning authority, although a similar structure has been granted permission in another, equally sensitive, part of Hampstead (see offices - Hampstead in Completed Projects).
